Story
As members of the Conan Detective Squad — the celebrated child-detective team from the Detective Conan / Case Closed anime franchise — players have secretly inserted themselves into a high-stakes museum investigation. The museum curator has received a formal warning letter from Kaito Kid, the notorious magician-turned-thief who specialises in impossible heists. While veteran detective Kogoro Mouri and the police work the official channels, players decide to go further: to follow the trail independently and uncover the full truth behind the planned theft before Kaito Kid can execute his plan.
What Makes This Room Unique
Masterpiece Heist: The Museum Caper is one of the few escape rooms in Malaysia and Singapore explicitly themed around the Detective Conan / Case Closed franchise — one of the most popular and enduring Japanese manga and anime series globally. The room draws directly from both Detective Conan and the spin-off Magic Kaito, featuring Kaito Kid as the antagonist and the Conan Detective Squad as the player’s team identity.
This thematic choice creates a product with a highly specific, ready-made audience: the Conan franchise has an enormous fanbase across Malaysia, Singapore, and the wider East and Southeast Asian region. Unlike most JB escape rooms, which target broad adventure/horror audiences, Masterpiece Heist speaks directly to anime fans, younger players, and those who want an investigation-puzzle experience without any horror dimension.
The museum setting also allows for a more aesthetically sophisticated room design — artifacts, exhibition cases, and heist-style puzzles embedded in gallery aesthetics rather than dark dungeon corridors. A Tripadvisor reviewer who played a museum-style room at Enigma (likely this one) praised the “attention to historical detail and mind-bending puzzles” — consistent with the museum-heist setting.
Ideal For
- Detective Conan / Case Closed anime fans of all ages — the room directly references the franchise characters and narrative universe
- Families with children and teens who want an exciting escape room without horror content
- Groups looking for an investigation-themed puzzle room in a museum-heist aesthetic
- Younger players and first-time escape room participants
Player Tips
- Familiarity with Detective Conan’s characters and story will enhance enjoyment — understanding the Kaito Kid / Conan dynamic adds narrative depth
- Focus on logical deduction and investigation skills — this is a mystery room, not a horror room; approach puzzles as a detective, not a survivor
- Book well in advance, especially for weekend slots at Eco Palladium
