Story
Set in the Ming Dynasty, the Su family of Echeng County in southern China operated a business serving the dead — respected ghost intermediaries who managed affairs between the living and the deceased. When the family patriarch, Master Su, passed away eighteen years ago, tragedy struck during childbirth: his eldest daughter died in labour, leaving behind a newborn girl named Su Murou, blessed with “agile eyes and a watery appearance.” But the family’s long dealings with the dead have brought retribution. Su Murou has suffered from a strange illness since birth — her body unnaturally cold, her health declining, coughing her heart’s blood at each episode. The household whispers she will not live to see her 18th birthday.
Unless, that is, players can find the legendary thousand-year-old Xuandu Flower — the only known cure. Players are dispatched into this supernatural world to retrieve it, navigating the mystical and ghostly realm the Su family inhabits.
What Makes This Room Unique
Peach Blossom Robbery draws directly from Chinese supernatural folk mythology and the aesthetic of Chinese period drama (wuxia/xianxia genres), making it genuinely distinctive in a JB market dominated by horror rooms. The narrative is rich with classical Chinese motifs: ancestral debt, dynastic setting, supernatural illness, and a redemptive quest for a mythical cure. One Lemon8 reviewer who played Peach Blossom Robbery specifically praised the “engaging” storyline, noting that “the set design really made us feel like we were in a different world,” with puzzles described as “challenging but fun.”
The 90-minute session gives the room more narrative time than most JB escape rooms, allowing the elaborate Ming Dynasty atmosphere to breathe. Escapethereview.co.uk lists the room but has not yet reviewed it (as of early 2025), suggesting it remains under-documented internationally despite positive local reception.
