Story
Project Fallout — an aptly named weapon of mass destruction — has been reported missing along with the entire group of scientists working on it. Players wake up with no memory of who they are or where they are, being interrogated by unknown authorities about a weapon they have no recollection of. But there is a clue in the situation itself: the authorities mention that the players wiped their own memory before these agents arrived. Something happened that made them destroy their own knowledge of the project. Now, they must escape their captivity, recover their identity, and piece together what happened to Project Fallout.
What Makes This Room Unique
Project Fallout is the primary beginner-friendly entry point at Avenue K, and its 65% success rate — the highest at this branch — confirms its accessibility. Unlike Dreadnought or War for Rembrandt at NU Sentral, which use emotionally optimistic narratives, Project Fallout deploys a thriller hook that immediately creates urgency and intrigue: why did the players wipe their own memory? The voluntary self-amnesia premise is a sophisticated narrative device that makes the mystery genuinely compelling without requiring any prior escape room experience to appreciate.
The handcuffing mechanic — the same as in Mr. Oswald’s Greatest Show but in a beginner context — introduces this physical element in a lower-stakes environment, preparing players for the possibility of physical constraints in harder rooms. Combined with crawling and climbing, Project Fallout offers more physical variety than its beginner difficulty might suggest.
Ideal For
- Beginner players at Avenue K — the ideal starting room for this branch
- Thriller and sci-fi fans who prefer action-mystery to horror or fantasy
- Groups of 3–6 who want accessible difficulty with physical engagement
- Players who want to experience the handcuffing mechanic in a lower-stakes environment before tackling Mr. Oswald
- Corporate team-building groups looking for a tense but manageable introductory challenge
Content Notes
No horror. No scary elements. Players handcuffed in one section. Physical crawling and climbing required. Minimum 3 players. Family-friendly despite mature weapon-of-mass-destruction thriller theme. Best starting room at Avenue K.
Player Tips
- The self-wiped memory is the narrative backbone — everything discovered is a clue to the identity mystery, not just a puzzle unlock
- Prepare your group for the handcuffing segment — it is time-limited and part of the escape sequence
- Despite beginner rating, crawling and climbing add physical variety — wear comfortable, flexible clothing
- Minimum 3 players required — this is not a solo or duo room
