Story
In the days before Christmas, the city of Kansas is shaken by a series of violent homicides inside its central post office. Two employees have been killed. The killings appear random, the clues are almost non-existent, and investigators are baffled. The Special Crimes Unit is called in. Players, as officers of the unit, are assigned to crack this case before the killer strikes again — working against the clock inside the very scene of the crimes to piece together what happened and identify the perpetrator before another life is taken.
What Makes This Room Unique
Post Mortem is Breakout Malaysia’s purest crime investigation experience — no supernatural elements, no sci-fi framing, just a locked-room murder mystery with procedural logic at its core. The Christmas-time Kansas post office setting grounds the horror in everyday spaces (a place anyone might visit) rather than isolated haunted locales, making the premise unusually effective at creating dread through familiarity.
The 20% success rate, despite having no physical demands whatsoever, signals that Post Mortem’s difficulty is entirely intellectual — the puzzle chain requires rigorous deductive reasoning, evidence synthesis, and elimination logic more akin to a detective procedural than a typical escape room. This makes it an ideal destination for analytical thinkers who find physical or horror rooms less engaging.
Ideal For
- True crime enthusiasts, CSI/detective fiction fans, and analytical thinkers
- Players who want maximum intellectual challenge without horror or physical demand
- Groups with strong deductive reasoning and communication skills
- Players who have mastered beginner and intermediate rooms and are ready for a purely logic-based hardcore challenge
- Families with older children and teenagers who enjoy crime mysteries (no horror, no scary elements)
Content Notes
No horror. No scary elements. No physical demand. Mature theme (violent homicide investigation). Family-friendly rating maintained despite serious subject matter. 20% success rate driven entirely by intellectual puzzle complexity.
Player Tips

- The Christmas and post office settings are thematically intentional; timing and location details are clues
- No physical demand means all cognitive effort can be directed toward puzzle logic — maximise group thinking time
- Consider playing Chamber of Hocus first to warm up before attempting the 20% success rate challenge
