Story
Rumours of an immortality potion have lured you and your group of friends into the home of a mysterious Alchemist — a figure who performs extraordinary transformations, converting base materials and elements into something utterly unique. Fascinated by the legends surrounding his work, you take the opportunity to explore his home. But the deeper you explore, the more you begin to understand the disturbing truth behind the Alchemist’s methods. You have 75 minutes to escape before you end up becoming his next experiment.
What Makes This Room Unique
The Alchemist’s Cabinet of Curiosities occupies a completely singular position in the Trapped lineup — and indeed in Singapore’s escape room scene. It is explicitly listed as having ‘no scare factors and no scary elements.’ In a venue known for horror, supernatural, and kidnap themes, this room is the sole choice for players who want the full intellectual challenge of Trapped (86% difficulty — joint highest) without any horror atmosphere. This makes it the most intellectually pure escape room experience Trapped offers.
The alchemy setting is both aesthetically rich and puzzle-dense: alchemy as a discipline — transmutation, elemental logic, arcane recipes, symbolic systems — provides nearly unlimited puzzle inspiration. The immortality potion as the central MacGuffin creates an adventure-quest framing rather than a survival or investigation structure. The room is described as ‘plenty of puzzles and mystery to solve,’ indicating unusually high puzzle density for the 75-minute slot.
Ideal For
- Players who dislike horror but want Trapped’s hardest intellectual challenge
- Families with children 10+ who want a magic/fantasy experience without scares
- Pure puzzle enthusiasts who prefer logic, observation, and pattern-recognition over atmosphere
- First-time players who want the most beginner-friendly setting at the highest difficulty
- Groups with mixed horror tolerance — the only room that works for everyone simultaneously
- Fans of alchemy, medieval fantasy, and arcane aesthetic
Player Tips
- This is the only room at Trapped with no scare factors — confidently recommend it to horror-averse group members
- At 86% difficulty, the puzzle density is exceptionally high — don’t dwell too long on any single puzzle
- Alchemy logic (transmutation, elements, symbols) is embedded in the puzzle design — cultural context helps
- The disturbing truth behind the Alchemist’s methods is a narrative reveal, not a horror reveal
- With 74% intensity (lowest in lineup), the atmosphere is tense but not frightening — focus on puzzles
- This room pairs well with a horror room in a double-session for groups with mixed preferences
Content Warnings
- No scare factors or horror elements — officially the safest room for horror-sensitive players
- Dark undertones in the story (disturbing experimental methods, immortality ethics) — entirely non-graphic
- Standard escape room time pressure and puzzle frustration
