Story

A Tử is a hardworking student at Tsinghua University, originally from a remote mountain village. Every Lunar New Year he returns home — but this year, he never arrives. His parents call the university; the school has no information. That same night, a massive landslide buries his village, and local reports confirm no survivors. A Tử’s close friends receive no answer when they call his phone, but one friend remembers lending him an iPad with location tracking. The signal leads them to a remote area. They arrive after dark to find an ancient, abandoned shrine before them. Their mission: find A Tử.

What Makes This Room Unique

Miếu Cản Thi draws on the jiangshi (hopping vampire/corpse) tradition of Chinese supernatural folklore, in which shrines along ancient transport routes were used to guide the walking dead home for burial. The concept of ‘cản thi’ — blocking or guiding stiff corpses — is a morbid but culturally specific horror concept rarely depicted in escape rooms. The framing of a missing friend who may or may not be among the dead gives the investigation genuine emotional weight.
