Story
A tomb hidden deep in the heart of China is rumoured to be haunted by the first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, who was buried there alongside his wealth, army, and slaves. His spirit roams through the halls to protect all that he left behind — and will banish anyone who trespasses into eternal damnation.
What Makes This Room Unique
The Imperial Mausoleum is Mission-Q Sunway’s most production-intensive room and the one most frequently praised for atmosphere and set design. A Google Maps reviewer (Bryan C., 2025) described it as ‘absolutely incredible… from the moment we stepped into the room, we were fully immersed in the ancient atmosphere, feeling as if we had been transported back in time.’ This level of environmental immersion is relatively rare in the Malaysian escape room market at Mission-Q’s price point.
The room’s narrative is grounded in genuine historical fact: the real Qin Shi Huang (259–210 BCE) was indeed buried with a terracotta army, treasures, and (by historical accounts) slaves and concubines. Mission-Q leverages this historical weight to give the puzzle stakes real cultural heft — you’re not defeating a generic villain, but defying the first emperor of a unified China.
The physical design is significant: reviewers specifically note ‘a lot of ladder climbing and crawling involved made it such a thrilling experience’ (Wanderlog, 2024). One pair used all 3 available hints and ‘spent almost the entire hour’ escaping — confirming Hard difficulty for groups of 2, while larger groups have escaped with 8 minutes to spare. This variance suggests strong scalability by group size and experience.
Ideal For
- Chinese history and Qin Dynasty enthusiasts — the historical grounding adds meaningful depth
- Pairs and small groups (2–4) looking for a challenge-calibrated hard room without horror content
- Players who want Mission-Q’s best-decorated and most atmospheric non-horror room
- Corporate team-building groups — the historical context and tiered difficulty serve both casual and experienced players well
- Anyone who found Saving King Arthur satisfying and wants a step up in difficulty and production value
Player Tips
- The historical backdrop is real — knowing basic facts about Emperor Qin Shi Huang enriches the experience and may hint at puzzle logic
- Physical demand is very high — ladder climbing and crawling are key mechanics; do not visit if you have mobility concerns
- With 2 players, expect to use all 3 hints and come close to the time limit; bring 4+ for a more comfortable challenge
- The atmosphere is the room’s strongest point — take time to observe the set design; many environmental clues are embedded in the décor
- Currently confirmed active at Sunway Pyramid (subject to renovation periods per Tripadvisor reviews — call ahead to confirm availability)
