Story
In 2044, a group of terrorists intends to overthrow the government by travelling back in time using a machine of their own construction. To neutralise the threat, government scientist Mr. Clark has developed an anti-time travel USB device designed to prevent unauthorised time travel from occurring. But the USB has been stolen almost immediately after its creation. Players, hired by the CIA, are tasked with breaking into the terrorists’ hideout to retrieve the USB — and then use the terrorists’ own time machine to travel back in time and prevent this entire chain of events from happening.
What Makes This Room Unique
Capsule stands out at The Shore Melaka as the only non-horror, non-beginner room — occupying the intermediate space between Wonderland’s accessibility and the horror rooms above it. The time travel counter-terrorism premise taps into a narrative tradition of ‘fix the timeline’ stories that resonate widely across action and science fiction audiences. The CIA recruitment framing gives players an immediate professional agency that many escape rooms lack.
The practical inclusion of both light crawling and ladder climbing creates a physically varied experience unusual for an intermediate room, suggesting Capsule’s design uses multi-dimensional space (vertical as well as horizontal movement) as a core mechanic. This combination of time travel narrative and multi-plane physical design makes Capsule an experience that stands distinct from every other room at the Melaka branch.
Ideal For
- Science fiction and time travel enthusiasts
- Players seeking intermediate challenge without horror elements at the Melaka branch
- Action-thriller fans who enjoy counter-terrorism and CIA-style mission scenarios
- Groups comfortable with light physical activity including ladder climbing
- Families with older children or teenagers looking for a step up from Wonderland
Content Notes
No horror. No scary elements. Light crawling and ladder climbing required. Family-friendly. Minimum 3 players. Intermediate difficulty with a 35% success rate.
Player Tips
- The CIA mission framing means objectives are clear — focus on retrieving the USB and activating the time machine as your sequential goals
- Ladder climbing is part of the puzzle design, not just transitions between spaces — treat vertical movement as a clue pathway
- Minimum 3 players required — 4 is optimal for the multi-objective time travel mission
- Ideal as the middle room in a Melaka visit: Wonderland → Capsule → Section 13 for a progressive difficulty arc
