We visited the Annabelle escape room with a group of six. Even though we had pre-booked, payment was only required right before entering the room. As some other reviews have mentioned, the receptionist did come across as a bit rude, and the setup is a little inconvenient, reception and the actual rooms are in different buildings, and you have to climb three flights of stairs to get there, which might be tough for anyone with mobility issues.
That said, once we arrived, despite being slightly late, the staff didn’t rush us at all. They started the timer only after giving clear instructions and making sure we were fully ready. We were given a walkie-talkie to ask for hints, and although it malfunctioned briefly at the start, it worked fine after that.
The Annabelle room is split into three sections. The first part was fairly easy for us, but the second felt overly complicated and tough to finish within the time limit. At one point, a lock opened with very little force, accidentally revealing a later clue and throwing us off a bit. That might be partly due to our limited escape room experience, but I still think some of the puzzles could be refined especially one where even after the staff explained the answer, it still didn’t feel intuitive.
The overall design is clever and creative, though at times it felt like there wasn’t enough for everyone in the group to do. Some of us were fully engaged for the full 75 minutes, while others found themselves with long stretches of nothing to work on.
The staff member who escorted us inside was fantastic. He explained everything clearly and didn’t hurry us once our time was up. In fact, he spent a good 10 to 15 minutes walking us through the remaining clues and letting us explore them at our own pace. While the room wasn’t particularly scary aside from one jump scare, it was still an enjoyable experience overall.
I played The Great Escape and The Warlock Hostel, and both were a blast! It was super easy to contact the gamemaster for hints whenever we got stuck, which kept the experience smooth and stress-free.
The Great Escape didn’t have a scary NPC, but The Warlock Hostel had a truly spooky and immersive atmosphere. Both rooms were really fun and well put together. Big shoutout to Gamemaster Ricky, he was super friendly and made the experience even better
